One of our last days of the trip we met up with my friend Matt and decided to hike to the top of Flat Top mountain. It was a relatively short hike but after days of hiking, my feet weren't complaining about that fact.

Because of the threat of rain and the monster pace we had, there aren't many pictures from the trip. The hike up was a typical Colorado hike - rough and rocky but spectacular.

Having hiked in California as much as we did, we were familiar with these funny little creatures - marmots. However, what we weren't prepared for was their bold behavior, stalking you and such as you sat for a snack or tied your shoe.

We stopped at the top for a brief rest and I set my pack down. Matt tapped me on my shoulder and warned me to pick my pack back up as I was being stalked by those four legged critters. And then he proceeded to tell me many funny tails of critters and their resourcfulness.

We finally reached the top of Flat Top mountain and boy was it cold! I was not expecting to be this chilly!

The clouds started to swirl and we kept losing sight of Hallett Peak which was a bummer because we wanted to summit it.

Matt, Mark and I decided we needed at least one picture to commerate this experience (we lugged the camera equipment up the hill with us after all).

Over the cliff behind us is a glacier - the sign is to warn folk in a whiteout because apparently, more than once, people have walked off that edge not knowing.
